La Posta Vecchia, a 17th century villa on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea and restored by J. Paul. Getty served as the base of operations for Kylie and Alex’s 4 day wedding festivities around Rome.
From the beginning, they had told me that they wanted a photographer who could capture the spirit of their event without making them feel self-conscious and ‘posey’ - even when taking formal photos in as conspicuous a place as the center of the plaza of Vatican City. With a couple of exceptions what you see below was all just photojournalism.

From this wedding comes one of my all time favorite photographs. That look on Kylie’s face, turning around in the front seat of that tiny Italian getaway car surrounded not only by friends and family but by a couple hundred locals and tourists alike is one I will forever treasure. In that shot I can feel the boisterous joy of those moments - the relief coming after the ceremony combined with the eagerness of launching into a new life as a married couple. The excitement is palpable. And I never once asked her to smile…
